Ford EV Chief Doug Field to Leave Amid Company Restructuring
Ford Motor said Doug Field, its chief electric vehicle, digital and design officer, will leave the company after nearly five years helping lead its EV and software strategy. Field is a former Tesla and Apple executive who returned to Ford in 2021.
The departure comes as Ford carries out a broader reorganization of its leadership and operations, including a move to combine its EV and manufacturing businesses. Ford said Field will remain through a transition over the next month, and his responsibilities will be taken over by Chief Operating Officer Kumar Galhotra.
Ford has also been dealing with losses in its electric vehicle business, but the company said its lower-cost ‘skunkworks’ electric vehicle project will continue. Field said he is stepping down to pursue unspecified opportunities and share what he has learned from his career at Ford, Apple, and Tesla.
