Target to Open More Than 30 Stores in 2026, Marks 2,000th Location in North Carolina
Target Corp. said it will open more than 30 new stores in 2026 as part of a push to drive long-term, sustainable growth through increased investment in its physical locations.
The retailer will open seven of those stores in March, including its 2,000th U.S. location in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. That store is a 148,000-square-foot site built with Target’s open-layout design intended to provide an elevated guest experience.
Target also plans to remodel more than 130 existing stores this year and has set a longer-term target to add roughly 300 new stores by 2035, initiatives outlined by CEO Michael Fiddelke as part of the company’s growth priorities.
Seven new Target stores will open in March, and the company plans to open more than 30 stores over the course of 2026.
The 2,000th store is in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. It is a 148,000-square-foot location featuring Target’s open-layout design aimed at improving the guest experience.
Alongside the 2026 openings and more than 130 planned remodels this year, Target has a goal to open about 300 new stores by 2035 as part of its growth strategy.
