ADP Report Shows U.S. Private-Sector Hiring Rose by 122,000 Jobs in May
Private-sector employers in the U.S. added 122,000 jobs in May, according to the ADP National Employment Report. That was up from 105,000 jobs added in April and above economists’ expectations for 110,000 new jobs.
The report also said annual pay increased 4.4% year over year. ADP said the figures are based on its National Employment Report, produced with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab.
It tracks private-sector job growth and pay levels, giving an early look at hiring trends in the U.S. labor market.
It can help show whether the job market is getting stronger or weaker before other official employment data is released.
Private-sector hiring was stronger than expected, with 122,000 jobs added, and pay rose 4.4% from a year earlier.
