OpenAI said it will comply with President Donald Trump’s executive order asking artificial intelligence companies to give the federal government access to their models before full release. The company said it will sign up to the voluntary framework created by the order.
George Osborne, OpenAI’s head of countries, said the company will allow the U.S. government to assess the capabilities of its AI models ahead of release. The comments were made to CNBC.
The news comes as U.S. officials also discuss whether the government should take financial stakes in AI companies. One report said those talks have included AI leaders such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
