Glance View
Coca-Cola is a beverage company best known for making and marketing soft drinks, but its business goes far beyond the Coke brand. It sells sparkling drinks, water, sports drinks, juice, tea, coffee, and ready-to-drink beverages under a large portfolio of names that are often owned by the company or licensed from partners. In many markets, Coca-Cola does not own the bottling trucks and warehouses itself; instead, it supplies the concentrate, syrup, brands, and marketing support that help its drinks reach stores, restaurants, and vending machines. The company makes money mainly by selling beverage concentrates, syrups, and finished drinks to bottlers, distributors, retailers, and food-service operators. Those customers then package, ship, and sell the products to consumers. That model makes Coca-Cola something like the brand owner and recipe provider at the center of the cold-drink value chain, with a business built on marketing power, distribution reach, and long-term relationships with bottling partners. What makes Coca-Cola’s role different is that it does not need to manufacture every bottle itself to sell drinks around the world. Instead, it relies on a network of bottlers and channel partners to do much of the production and delivery while it focuses on brands, product development, and demand creation. That gives the company a relatively asset-light model for a global consumer staples business and makes its earnings tied closely to how widely its brands are sold and consumed.
