Mark Zuckerberg

Founder of Meta (Facebook)

Mark Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York, USA) is an American entrepreneur and programmer, best known as one of the founders of the social network Facebook (now Meta Platforms). His interest in programming emerged at an early age: while in school, he created programs like the music player Synapse, which utilized artificial intelligence. Later, Zuckerberg enrolled at Harvard University, where he and his friends began developing a social network project for students. In 2004, they launched “TheFacebook,” which quickly gained popularity across American universities and eventually worldwide.

Facebook

Zuckerberg’s career developed rapidly, and Facebook became one of the largest tech companies in the world. Under his leadership, Facebook expanded its capabilities by acquiring Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus. In recent years, Zuckerberg has been actively advancing initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Meta

Zuckerberg’s experience with the metaverse has become a central part of his strategy in recent years. In 2021, the company was renamed Meta to underscore its commitment to creating the metaverse—a virtual space where users can interact, work, and relax. Meta is developing the Horizon Worlds platform, which allows users to create and explore virtual worlds using virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technologies. Investments in Reality Labs, the division responsible for developing Oculus headsets and augmented reality glasses, have become a key focus for the company. Zuckerberg views the metaverse as the next stage in the evolution of the internet, poised to transform approaches to communication, education, and business. Despite significant financial investments and challenges related to monetization, Zuckerberg remains confident in the strategic importance of the metaverse for the future of technology.

AI

Meta has invested in developing cutting-edge AI technologies, including language models, computer vision systems, and data analysis tools. One of the company’s largest projects is its infrastructure for training large neural networks and a platform for creating the metaverse with AI elements. Zuckerberg emphasizes the importance of AI for the future of technology and society, calling it a key tool for solving complex problems like medical research and climate change. He also supports initiatives to establish ethical standards for AI use to minimize potential risks.

Meta Platforms is a leader in the AI market thanks to its research division, Meta AI, and projects like PyTorch—a popular open-source platform for AI development. The company has also developed advanced models in natural language processing and multimodal systems, including generating text, images, and video content. Meta actively integrates AI into its products: from personalized recommendation algorithms in Facebook and Instagram to automating business processes through the WhatsApp platform. In creating the metaverse, AI plays a key role, enabling virtual worlds, avatar management, and real-time user interactions. This leadership cements Meta as a significant player in AI development, strengthening its position in the global tech market.
