Hello Group Inc
Hello Group Inc. is a Chinese social networking and online dating company. Its main apps help people meet, chat, and build relationships through location-based matching, live social features, and interest-based communities. It also runs live video and other interactive entertainment products that keep users spending time inside its apps. The company makes money mainly from users who pay for virtual gifts, premium memberships, and other in-app services. In practice, it sells digital features that help people stand out in chats, connect more easily, or enjoy live entertainment. Its customers are mostly individual consumers, especially mobile users in China and nearby markets who want social discovery or online companionship. Hello Group sits in the consumer internet layer between social networking and digital entertainment. That makes it different from a traditional subscription media company or a pure advertising platform, because much of its revenue comes from direct user spending rather than from selling ads. Its business depends on keeping its apps useful and engaging enough that people return often and pay for extra features.

Revenue: Hello Group reported Q1 2026 revenue of RMB 2.39 billion, down 5% year over year and 7% quarter over quarter, as weakness in mainland China offset strong overseas growth.
Overseas growth: Overseas revenue rose 44% year over year to RMB 597 million, but SoulChill faced temporary pressure from Turkey regulation, Ramadan seasonality, and Middle East conflict.
Domestic pressure: Mainland China revenue fell 15% year over year to RMB 1.79 billion, mainly because of tighter tax scrutiny on MOMO agencies and softer consumer demand; management now expects full-year domestic revenue to decline in the mid-teens.
Margins: Adjusted operating income was RMB 349 million, up 1% year over year, and adjusted operating margin improved to 14.6% thanks to better gross margin and a richer overseas mix.
Product strategy: Management said AI remains a major product focus, with features such as AI-assisted chat, AI voice “drift bottles,” and AI-powered new products meant to improve connection quality and raise monetization.
Outlook: The company guided Q2 revenue to RMB 2.45 billion to RMB 2.55 billion and said the full-year group outlook implies a slight decline in revenue versus 2025, while the low-teens adjusted operating margin target still looks achievable.
