Recordati Industria Chimica e Farmaceutica SpA
Recordati Industria Chimica e Farmaceutica is an Italian pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, and sells branded medicines. Its portfolio includes prescription drugs for specialty and rare conditions, along with some consumer healthcare products. It does not mainly sell generic bulk medicine; instead, it focuses on specific treatments where doctors, pharmacies, and hospitals need reliable branded products. The company makes money by selling these medicines through pharmacies, hospitals, distributors, and healthcare providers in Europe and other markets. It also earns from licensing and other pharmaceutical partnerships when it lets partners use its products or know-how in certain countries. That mix gives it a business based on repeat demand for established treatments rather than one-time product sales. What makes Recordati different is its focus on smaller therapeutic niches where a drug maker can build deep expertise and a strong position over time. In practice, it acts as a specialist supplier in the healthcare value chain: it develops or acquires medicines, produces them, and then sells them under its own brands to patients and professionals through the healthcare system.

Strong start: Recordati said Q1 2026 was a very good start to the year, with net revenue of EUR 730 million, up 4.9% year on year, and solid progress across the business.
Rare disease led: Rare disease revenue rose to EUR 292 million, up 14.8%, driven by Isturisa and Enjaymo, while specialty and primary care was broadly stable despite expected headwinds.
Isturisa momentum: Isturisa posted especially strong U.S. growth, with management saying field-force expansion is now complete and should start to support a stronger second-half ramp.
Pipeline progress: The Phase II pasireotide study in post-bariatric hypoglycemia met its primary endpoint, and Recordati plans to discuss a pivotal Phase III program with the FDA.
ITP move: The company also decided to advance sutimlimab into a pivotal Phase III trial in chronic refractory immune thrombocytopenia, expected to start in early 2027.
Outlook confirmed: Management reaffirmed full-year 2026 guidance, including revenue of EUR 2.73 billion to EUR 2.8 billion and EBITDA of EUR 995 million to EUR 1.03 billion.
Capital strength: Free cash flow was EUR 92 million in the quarter and leverage ended just below 2x, leaving the company with solid financial flexibility.
