SuRo Capital (Nasdaq: SSSS, formerly known as GSV Capital) is a publicly-traded fund that seeks to invest in high-growth, venture-backed private companies. The company is headquartered in New York City, New York and currently employs 9 full-time employees. The company went IPO on 2011-04-28. The firm's investment objective is to maximize its portfolio’s total return, principally by seeking capital gains on equity and equity-related investments, and to a lesser extent, income from debt investments. The firm acquires its investments through direct investments in prospective portfolio companies, secondary marketplaces for private companies, and negotiations with selling stockholders. In addition, the Company invests in private credit and in the founders equity, founders warrants, forward purchase agreements, and private investment in public equity (PIPE) transactions of special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs). The company may also invest on an opportunistic basis in select publicly traded equity securities or certain non-United States companies and make investments in private equity funds and hedge funds.
