Methanex Corp
Methanex Corp is the world’s largest producer and seller of methanol, a basic industrial chemical used to make other products. It produces methanol at its own plants and also buys supply from third parties, then sells it to industrial customers around the world through long-term and spot contracts. Its main customers are chemical makers and other manufacturers that use methanol to produce formaldehyde, acetic acid, solvents, plastics, and some fuel applications. Methanex makes money mainly by selling methanol, so its earnings depend on global methanol supply, demand, and pricing. It also earns from managing the logistics needed to move methanol by ship, terminal, and distribution networks. What makes Methanex different is that it is not a specialty chemical company with many product lines; it is a focused middleman and producer in one commodity chemical market. That gives it an important role in the supply chain, because customers rely on it for steady methanol supply rather than making the chemical themselves.

Strong quarter: Methanex reported adjusted EBITDA of $577 million and adjusted net income of $300 million, helped by a higher realized price of $529 per tonne and strong production from North America.
Middle East disruption: Management said the conflict continues to remove a large amount of supply from the market, keeping methanol pricing elevated and volatile, while inventory levels in Asia have been drawn down sharply.
Trinidad idling: The Titan plant in Trinidad and Tobago was idled indefinitely after the company could not agree on a commercially viable gas contract, triggering a $115 million noncash asset impairment charge and a $12 million restructuring accrual.
Q3 outlook: Methanex expects July and August realized pricing of about $460 to $485 per tonne and said third-quarter earnings should still be strong, but lower than Q2 because of softer pricing.
Capital return: The company repaid the remaining $290 million on Term Loan A and said share repurchases are now part of the discussion as it gets closer to its leverage target.
