Helios Towers PLC
Glance View
Helios Towers owns and manages mobile phone towers and related site infrastructure in parts of Africa and the Middle East. It rents space on those towers to mobile network operators that need places to install antennas and other equipment so they can carry voice and data traffic across their networks. The company makes money mostly through long-term contracts with telecom customers. A single tower can host equipment for several operators, so Helios Towers earns recurring rental and service fees from the same site over time. Its business sits in the middle of the mobile network value chain: it does not sell phones or service plans, but it supplies the physical tower network that operators rely on to reach customers. What makes this model different is that tower infrastructure is expensive to build but relatively stable to operate once in place. Helios Towers focuses on owning the sites, maintaining them, and adding more tenants to existing towers, which lets telecom operators expand coverage without having to build and run every tower themselves.
