Tomra Systems ASA
Investor Relations

Tomra Systems makes machines that sort and collect valuable materials. Its best-known products are reverse vending machines, which take back used drink bottles and cans for deposit return systems, and sorting systems that use sensors, cameras, and software to separate recyclables, food products, and mined ore by material or quality. The company sells and services this equipment for customers such as supermarkets, beverage companies, recycling firms, waste handlers, food processors, and mining operators. It makes money from equipment sales, rentals, maintenance contracts, spare parts, and related services that keep the machines running and accurate over time. Tomra’s business model is different because it sits at the point where material recovery happens. Instead of simply handling waste after collection, its machines identify, sort, and recover items at the source, which makes the company a key tool for deposit return systems, recycling operations, and industrial sorting lines.

KI-Zusammenfassung
Q1 2026

Strong top line: TOMRA said Q1 revenue was led by strong growth in Food and Collection, with group revenue at EUR 334 million, up 9% year over year and 12% currency adjusted.

Margins under pressure: Profitability was hit by short-term product mix effects, especially lower-margin RVM sales in Collection, third-party equipment in Food, and weak volumes in Recycling.

Collection momentum: Collection posted record quarterly revenue of EUR 208 million, helped by Poland, Portugal, and growth in existing markets, but Poland’s rollout and mix held margins below the company’s 40% target.

Recycling remains soft: Recycling saw lower revenue and order intake as customers stayed cautious amid weak sentiment, tariffs, low plastic prices, and macro uncertainty; management said the cost-cutting program is on track.

Food stays healthy: Food revenue rose to EUR 79 million, with citrus especially strong and potato activity cooling after a strong investment cycle; full-year growth guidance stayed positive.

Horizon building out: The newer businesses in Horizon generated EUR 10 million of revenue, with c-trace growing well and Områ ramping up as TOMRA expects the plant to reach two-thirds capacity this year.

UK pipeline ahead: Management said the UK deposit-return rollout is progressing on schedule, with major retailer tenders underway and most contracts expected to be signed this year for rollout starting in 2027.
