Fundamental Analysis
What Coles Group Does
Coles Group is one of Australia’s main food and everyday-goods retailers. It sells groceries, fresh produce, meat, dairy, household products, and other essentials through its supermarket stores and online channels. It also runs liquor retailing and some convenience-format stores, so it reaches shoppers across both weekly grocery trips and smaller fill-in purchases.

Coles Group has no economic moat
Shoppers can move ordinary grocery purchases among Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and independent grocers without giving up much, so Coles has no strong lock on demand. Its familiar name and rewards may encourage repeat visits, but they do not make its groceries more valuable because other people shop there or reliably let it charge more than comparable alternatives.
