Transaction: Pixelworks completed the sale of its Shanghai semiconductor subsidiary, generating approximately $51 million of net cash proceeds and eliminating prior subsidiary-related obligations.
Balance sheet: The company ended 2025 with $11.2 million in cash, received ~$51 million in January, and expects to have approximately $58 million in cash as of March 31, 2026 (plus ~$1.2 million held in escrow soon to be released).
Strategic pivot: Pixelworks has repositioned as a lean, asset-light technology licensing company focused on cinematic visualization solutions anchored by its TrueCut Motion platform.
Revenue mix: FY2025 continuing-operations revenue was approximately $690,000, all from TrueCut Motion motion-grading services; management expects future recurring revenue to come from licensing (device certification, distribution) rather than one-off services or patent sales.
Cost and runway: Headcount is now under 25 employees (≈60% R&D); management reduced operating costs and expects cash operating expenses of approximately $2 million per quarter beginning in Q2 2026.
Commercial progress: Early commercial traction includes partnerships with Marcus Theatres and Odeon Cinemas Group to prioritize TrueCut Motion on premium large-format screens; more exhibitor partnerships are expected.
Capital allocation: The company canceled its at-the-market facility, does not plan further patent sales as a recurring revenue source, and expects at least $1.5 million of annual interest income on current cash balances.
