Energy Development Co. Ltd. engages in the business of power generation and infrastructure development. The company is headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. The company went IPO on 2007-11-02. The firm operates through three segments: Generating Division, Contract Division and Trading Division. Its Generating Division is engaged in the generation and sale of power from hydro power and wind power mills to various electricity boards and/or sale to other parties through Indian energy exchange (IEX) or otherwise, as per the terms agreed bilaterally on short term basis. The company owns and operates a nine-megawatt (MW) and six MW hydro-electric power project and power plant in Karnataka. The company also has two operating windmills of 1.5MW each located in Hassan and Chitradurga districts in the state of Karnataka. Its Contract Division is engaged in the construction, development, implementation, operation and maintenance of projects and consultancies. Its Trading Division is engaged in the purchase and sale of electrical equipment and metals.
