Choice Hotels International, Inc. engages in the franchising and operations of hotels. The company is headquartered in Rockville, Maryland and currently employs 1,500 full-time employees. The firm owns hotels representing approximately 7,030 hotels open consisting of 579,746 rooms and 924 hotels under construction, awaiting conversion or approved for development consisting of 79,915 rooms located in 50 states, the District of Columbia and nearly 40 countries and territories outside the United States. The Hotel Franchising segment includes its hotel franchising operations, which consists of approximately 14 brands, such as Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Clarion, Clarion Pointe, Ascend Hotel Collection, Sleep Inn, Econo Lodge, Rodeway Inn, MainStay Suites, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, WoodSpring Suites, Everhome Suites and Cambria Hotels. Its domestic operations are conducted through direct franchising relationships and the ownership of six Cambria hotels, while its international franchise operations are conducted through a combination of direct franchising and master franchising relationships.
