TomTom NV
TomTom NV makes digital maps, navigation software, and location data. Its products help drivers, fleets, car makers, and app developers find routes, track vehicles, and build services that depend on accurate maps and traffic information. The company sells map content, navigation software, and related services that can be built into cars, phones, enterprise tools, and connected devices. TomTom earns money mainly by licensing its map and routing technology and by selling subscriptions and service contracts. A large part of the business comes from automotive customers that pay TomTom to power in-car navigation and driver-assistance features, plus enterprise customers that use its maps and traffic data in logistics, delivery, and mobility applications. It also serves consumers through navigation products and apps, though the company’s core role is increasingly behind the scenes as a data supplier. What makes TomTom different is that it sits in the middle of the digital mapping chain. It does not just make a standalone app; it builds the map database, routing engine, and traffic layer that other companies can license and embed in their own products. That gives TomTom a business model based on intellectual property, recurring licenses, and long-term partnerships with vehicle makers and software customers.

Revenue: Q1 group revenue was EUR 129 million, down 8% year on year and in line with the company’s earlier guidance.
Profitability: TomTom’s gross margin rose to 90% and operating margin improved to 11%, helped by a better mix and lower costs.
Outlook: Management reiterated full-year 2026 guidance, including revenue of EUR 495 million to EUR 555 million and an operating margin around 3%.
Headwinds: The company said revenue is still being held back by the phaseout of certain customer programs and by currency effects, but it called those impacts temporary.
AI and autonomy: Management said AI-based self-driving systems are making progress, and that TomTom’s lane-level maps are becoming more important for advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving.
Enterprise traction: The company said Enterprise is seeing early signs of improvement, with new partnerships and better pipeline build, including in traffic analytics, defense, and insurtech.
