Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure Ltd
Glance View
Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure owns and operates the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal in Queensland, one of Australia’s major export ports for metallurgical and thermal coal. The company does not mine coal itself; it provides the loading and handling infrastructure that lets miners move coal from inland rail networks onto ships for export. Its customers are coal producers and shippers that need reliable port access to reach overseas buyers, especially steelmakers and power generators in Asia. DBI earns most of its money by charging usage fees for access to the terminal and related services, with pricing tied to long-term access arrangements rather than selling coal or taking commodity risk directly. What makes the business different is that it sits in a bottleneck part of the supply chain. Miners need the terminal to get product to market, so DBI’s role is less about trading commodities and more about running a critical piece of export infrastructure with stable, contract-based revenue.
