Athabasca Oil Corp. is an exploration and production company, which engages in the development of thermal and light oil assets. The company is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. The company went IPO on 2010-04-08. The firm is focused on developing thermal oil and light oil resource plays in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in Alberta, Canada. Its thermal oil division consists of its cornerstone producing Leismer asset, Hangingstone asset, Corner development asset and the Dover West exploration asset in the Athabasca region of northeastern Alberta. The company produces light oil and liquid-rich natural gas from unconventional reservoirs. The firm's development has been focused on the Montney in the Greater Placid area and the Duvernay in the Greater Kaybob area near the town of Fox Creek, Alberta. In Greater Placid, it has a 70% operated working interest in approximately 90,000 gross Montney acres. In Greater Kaybob, it has a 30% non-operated interest in approximately 205,000 gross acres of commercially prospective Duvernay lands.
