Perusahaan Perkebunan London Sumatra Indonesia, usually called Lonsum, is an Indonesian plantation company. It grows and sells agricultural crops such as palm oil fresh fruit bunches, crude palm oil, palm kernel, rubber, tea, and some seeds and other plantation products. Its business starts on its own estates and then moves through processing facilities that turn raw harvests into saleable commodities. The company mainly sells to palm oil mills, commodity traders, refiners, and other industrial buyers that use these raw materials in food, consumer, and industrial products. It also serves buyers in the rubber and tea markets. Lonsum makes money by selling harvested crops and processed plantation outputs, so its results depend on crop yields, farm management, weather, and commodity prices. What makes Lonsum different is that it sits at the farming end of the supply chain, not the branded consumer end. It controls land, growing operations, and first-stage processing, which gives it direct exposure to commodity markets and agricultural production risk.
