Altech Batteries Ltd. is a specialty battery technology company, which engages in commercializing a 100 MWh solid state sodium alumina battery production facility and developing battery materials for a Lithium-ion battery. The company is headquartered in Subiaco, Western Australia and currently employs 19 full-time employees. The company went IPO on 2010-01-27. The company has a joint venture agreement with the German battery institute Fraunhofer IKTS (Fraunhofer) to commercialize the CERENERGY Sodium Chloride Solid State (SCSS) Battery. CERENERGY batteries are an alternative to lithium-ion batteries. Its segments include Silumina Anodes, CERENERGY, and High Purity Alumina (HPA). Its Silumina Anodes project involves combining silicon and graphite and coating this composite product with a nanometer layer of high-purity alumina for inclusion in lithium battery anodes. CERENERGY batteries are fire and explosion-proof, have a life span of more than 15 years and operate in extreme cold and desert climates. The battery technology uses table salt and nickel, which is lithium-free; cobalt-free; graphite-free; and copper-free, eliminating exposure to critical metal price rises and supply chain concerns. The company is also engaged in the construction and operation of a 4,500tpa HPA processing plant.
