Airbus Lowers Aircraft Delivery Targets Due to A320 Fuselage Issue
Airbus has announced a reduction in its target for delivering commercial aircraft in 2025. The company now expects to deliver around 790 aircraft, down from its previous goal, because of a quality issue with metal fuselage panels on its A320 jets.
The problem involves defects found on a wider range of fuselage panels supplied by a Spanish manufacturer. Airbus engineers are preparing to inspect hundreds of A320 jets in response to the issue.
This quality concern has added to other challenges, such as supply chain and worker shortages. Recent software updates ordered for the A320 line also contributed to operational slowdowns.
Despite these setbacks, Airbus has provided new guidance for its deliveries, earnings, and cash flow in 2025, offering some reassurance to investors.
