Hewlett Packard Enterprise Completes $14 Billion Acquisition of Juniper Networks After Justice Department Settlement
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has finalized its $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks, a company known for its expertise in AI-powered networks. The deal, which faced regulatory scrutiny, was cleared after HPE reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice.
As part of the settlement, HPE will sell its Instant On wireless networking division and provide limited access to parts of Juniper's Mist AI source code. These steps were taken to address competition concerns and allow the acquisition to proceed.
With this merger, HPE is expanding its networking business, aiming to offer a more comprehensive lineup of cloud-native and AI-driven solutions. The combination is expected to strengthen HPE's position in the fast-growing markets of AI and hybrid cloud services.
Following the acquisition, Juniper Networks will be removed from the S&P 500 index, and the company Datadog will take its place.
