The monomers are filtered, purified and polymerized to create Loop branded PET resin suitable for use in food-grade packaging and polyester fiber. Its Generation I technology (GEN I) is a hydrolysis-based depolymerization technology, which yields purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and monoethylene glycol (MEG), two common monomers of PET. Its Generation II technology (GEN II) is a methanolysis-based depolymerization technology that uses temperatures below 90 °C to depolymerize waste PET and polyester fiber. The company uses waste PET plastic and polyester fiber as feedstock. Loop Canada Inc. is its subsidiary.
